There are approximately 1 million new cases of HSV-2 in the US annually.
Of the two most common forms of the herpes virus, HSV-1 and HSV-2 the first form, HSV-1 or genital herpes is the most dangerous. It is transmitted from one sexual partner to another. HSV-2 id generally associated with fever blisters or cold sores.
There is no known cure for either of these forms of herpes but there are prescription and natural treatments that can lessen the length and the severity of an outbreak.
The best line of defense is to always use a condom during intercourse. A condom is not 100% effective but it will greatly reduce the risk. One should also absolutely not have sex during an outbreak during the time the \"Shedding\" process is taking place.
